  1. One may apply onion juice on scalp and hair, and leave for 3-4 hours.
    The cosmetic effect lasts longer for about a month but the treatment is painful.

    This first meal of the day could start off with
    a tablespoon of wheat germ, a tablespoon of brewer’s yeast,
    a tablespoon soy lecithin, and a tablespoon honey, in a cup of yogurt.

  5. QUORUM ALMOST REACHED IN WPFW LOCAL STATION BOARD ELECTION!
    (also posted under breaking news)

    Local Election Supervisor Jon Bush has given us an update! Only 353 more listener-member votes are needed for our station to make quorum and seat our new LSB! Only 11 more staff-member votes are needed.

    IF WE DO NOT REACH A QUORUM OF ABOUT 1,000 VOTES, THE CURRENT BOARD–WHICH HAS LED US TO THE POINT OF FINANCIAL RUIN, MANAGEMENT CRISIS AND HOMELESSNESS–STAYS IN PLACE. PACIFICA MUST RECEIVE YOUR BALLOT BY DEC. 11.

    PLEASE CHOOSE TOP RANKINGS FOR OUR RECOMMENDED CANDIDATES, WHO HAVE DEMONSTRATED THE VISION AND PROGRESSIVE VALUES TO ENSURE THE SURVIVAL OF YOUR STATION FOR JAZZ AND JUSTICE!

    According to the information posted by Jon Bush, there was a spike in votes, starting on November 28, so we hope these votes stem from our campaign here at the people4pfw.com.wordpress.com!

  6. If you made a donation to the station of $25 or more between September 13, 2011 and September 13, 2012; or volunteered three [3] hours or more during this time period, you are eligible to vote in the 2012 WPFW Local Station Board Election.

    If you meet this membership requirement and have not received your ballot, please call the Election Help Desk toll free at 1-866-720-4357 to request a replacement ballot – TODAY!

    As soon as you receive your ballot, please review all of the candidate information, make your selections, and promptly mail your ballot back in the envelope provided, to ensure that we reach our Quorum requirement.

  7. VOTE FOR AN INCLUSIVE, DEMOCRATIC ‘PFW:

    FOR NEWS AND PUBLIC AFFAIRS, & JAZZ, BLUES AND WORLD RHYTHMS

    BASED IN THE PEOPLES’ MOVEMENTS

    Benito Diaz

    12-2-12

    ‘PFW is at a crossroads: will we take ACTION to preserve and improve it’s progressive, democratic tradition of broadcasting news and public affairs, as well as jazz, blues and world rhythms anchored in the peoples’ movements, or will it become just another one of numerous, “nonprofit”, corporate-oriented stations around the country. An LSB TRULY representative of the listener-members, programmers and other volunteers, and union staff can play a progressive role in determining it’s present reality and future direction.

    As someone committed to taking-back control of our station from the rogue General Manager (and his corporate masters) who have hijacked it, I humbly request that you vote for those LSB candidates who have demonstrated, through their actions, that they ACTUALLY BELIEVE IN ‘PFW’s Mission Statement, which defines our station as one dedicated to “JAZZ AND JUSTICE” !

    This writer put together the following list of candidates who I feel will help move this station in a democratic direction based on the following criteria:
    1) my experience with some of them as programmers and/or LSB members;
    2) research into candidate backgrounds;
    3) a review of candidate performance at all of the candidate forums;
    4) a review of candidate statements and responses to candidate questions (see the wpfw website).

    (I) STAFF CANDIDATES (only programmers & paid staff can vote for staff candidates):

    1) Lona K. Alias 4) Jean Yves Point-du-Jour (incumbent)
    2) Robyn Holden 5) Miyuki Williams (incumbent)
    3) Esther Iverem

    (II) LISTENER CANDIDATES

    1) Kwami Abayomi 5) Vanessa Dixon-Briggs
    2) Michael Byfield (incumbent) 6) Jane Gatewood (incumbent)
    3) Ola Cole Laryea 7) Luzette King (incumbent)
    4) Benito Diaz (incumbent) (myself) 8) Eric Ramey

    (III) SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO CAST/MARK YOUR BALLOT

    1) You must rank each candidate you want to vote for, and make sure to give each candidate you vote for only one ranking. If you give a candidate an additional 2nd and 3rd, etc. ranking, you will lose that 2nd and 3rd preference, because you can only give each candidate one (1) ranking.

    2) As a listener, you can vote for up to 18 listener candidates. As a staff member, you can vote for up to 6 staff candidates. However, THERE IS NO NEED TO VOTE FOR THE MAXIMUM NUMBER OF CANDIDATES;

    3) IN THIS WRITER’S OPINION, IT IS NOT IN YOUR INTEREST TO VOTE FOR ANYONE UNLESS YOU ARE CERTAIN THAT YOU SUPPORT THEM AND WANT THEM TO GET ELECTED !

    The STV (Single Transferable Voting) system used by Pacifica is designed to transfer your one (1) vote to your 2nd, 3rd, etc. preferences in cases where she/he doesn’t need it to get elected, or can’t use it because, even with your vote, she/he wouldn’t have enough votes to get elected anyway.

    ACCORDINGLY, IF YOU VOTE FOR SOMEONE WHO YOU DON’T ACTUALLY SUPPORT; I.E., AS A LESSER OF 2 EVILS, YOU MAY INADVERTENTLY TAKE VOTES AWAY FROM CANDIDATES WHO YOU ACTUALLY DO SUPPORT.

    IN OTHER WORDS, BY VOTING FOR THE MAXIMUM NUMBER OF CANDIDATES YOU MAY END-UP HELPING TO DEFEAT YOUR PREFERRED CANDIDATES !

    Benito

  9. 1. I’m puzzled why election to a Board of Directors would seem foreign to anyone.
    2. Before criticizing ANYthing, find out whether there are rules in play, and if so whether they’re being followed.
    3. Moles are probably everywhere.
    4. Jimi was missing?

  10. Whoever heard of someone being ELECTED to a Board of Directors?
    it sounds like any Joe Blow can get on your board. Y’all have some moles in your house!

    On Thanksgiving what happened to Jimi Hendrix? No money until I get some real answers.
